Installing the Chrome Extension

The Pinpoint Chrome extension lets you drop and view feedback pins on any site straight from your browser toolbar, without needing the widget installed on the page first. It's the fastest way to start reviewing and is the first step of getting set up.

Adding the Extension

1.Open the Pinpoint listing in the Chrome Web Store from the install link on the dashboard or extension setup card.

2.Click Add to Chrome, then confirm by choosing Add extension when the browser prompts you.

3.Wait for the download to finish — the Pinpoint icon appears in your toolbar once it's installed.

4.Click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome and pin Pinpoint so its icon stays visible in the toolbar.

Pinning the extension keeps the pin button one click away on every site you visit. Without pinning, you'll have to open the puzzle-piece menu each time.

Signing In

After adding the extension, click its toolbar icon and sign in with the same account you use for the Pinpoint dashboard — by email and password or with Google. Once signed in, the extension connects to your projects so pins you drop are tied to the right one.

Leaving and Viewing Pins

With the extension active on a page, you can:

•Click any spot on the live site to drop a pinned note. The screenshot, page URL, browser and viewport are captured automatically with each pin.

•See existing pins others have left on the same page, so you can review feedback in context.

•Record a screen capture as feedback when a note alone doesn't explain the issue.

The extension works on any site you can open in Chrome, which makes it ideal for reviewing sites where you haven't installed the on-page widget yet, or for your own quick reviews. The embedded widget, by contrast, is what you give to clients and stakeholders so they can leave feedback without installing anything. Many teams use both — the extension for internal review, the widget for outside reviewers.

The extension is available for Chrome. To collect feedback from people who won't add an extension, install the Pinpoint widget on your site instead.
